Description

Playwright is a modern tool for testing websites that helps you check how your app works in real browsers like Chromium, Firefox, and WebKit using one simple API for JavaScript, Python, .NET, and Java. It waits for elements automatically, so your tests are less flaky, and it gives you screenshots, videos, and traces that you can replay to see exactly what happened when a test failed. You can even use code generation to record your actions in the browser and turn them into test code, and then debug them with an easy visual tool called Playwright Inspector. All this makes it very fast and friendly to create end-to-end tests that run on different systems and in CI.

Our Expert's Opinion

[4.6/5]

After using Playwright, I feel it is a very strong tool, especially if you already know testing and have used things like Selenium or Cypress before. It is fast, works in many browsers, and the auto-wait and trace tools make it easier to see why a test failed. At the same time, it is not perfect: the setup is heavy, the package is big, and running many tests can use a lot of memory and CPU. Some people also find the learning curve a bit hard, and the built-in reports and integrations are not as rich as in some other tools, so you may need extra work to connect it to your dashboards or CI reports.
