You write tests in JavaScript, press run, and then you can actually see your app and every test step side by side in a friendly test runner. It gives you automatic waiting (no more adding manual timeouts), “time travel” snapshots so you can click on a step and see what the page looked like at that exact moment, and clear error messages that make debugging much easier. Cypress also records screenshots and videos of your runs, works well with CI tools, and has an optional Cypress Cloud service to run tests in parallel and review results with your team.

After trying Cypress alongside other test tools, I like how fast and visual it feels, and the automatic waiting and time-travel view make many UI tests much easier for me. I enjoy writing tests in JavaScript and seeing the browser and logs update in real time. But it is not perfect: it only really fits well if your team is okay with JavaScript, some tests still feel flaky when network calls are slow or complex, and debugging weird failures in CI can sometimes take a lot of time. I also hit limits when I tried things like heavy multi-tab or very complex browser setups, and the tool can feel slow or heavy on big test suites. Overall, I think Cypress is a strong choice for many web apps, but it is not a magic solution and you still need good test design and some patience to deal with its quirks.
