Description

Agno is a powerful, open-source framework that lets you build smart AI agents by giving them memory, reasoning, tools and real knowledge. With Agno you can create single agents or whole teams working together, and even build multi-step workflows that feel like a “brain network.” It comes with a ready-to-use runtime (AgentOS) and control panel so you can deploy agents in the cloud, monitor what they do, and manage their memory, chats and tools securely. What’s really cool is that Agno is lightning-fast, model-agnostic (you can plug in many different LLMs), and supports multimodal inputs so agents can work with text, images, audio or video. And because it runs fully in your own environment, you keep full privacy and control over data.

Features

  • Model-agnostic
  • Native multimodal support (text, images, audio, video)
  • Persistent memory & storage
  • Agentic RAG / knowledge-base (vector store) integration
  • Multi-agent systems / teamwork / orchestration
  • Tool integration (APIs, databases, automation tools)
  • Built-in runtime + production deployment (AgentOS)
  • Control plane / monitoring & debugging UI
  • Structured I/O (typed inputs/outputs, schema validation)
  • Support for workflows (sequential/parallel/conditional workflows combining agents/teams/tools)

Our Expert's Opinion

[4.2/5]

Using Agno feels a bit like discovering a very powerful but still young toolkit. On the plus side, Agno is super fast, lightweight and gives you a lot of flexibility you can build agents that remember prior conversations or context, work with many kinds of inputs (text, images, audio, video), combine tools, and even set up multi-agent workflows. But I also noticed some drawbacks from my own expectations and general experience with similar frameworks. There is a steep responsibility on the developer: because agents can use memory, tools, and external knowledge, you need to carefully design guardrails, test thoroughly, and manage complexity otherwise things can get messy (especially for long or complex workflows). That is a common challenge with advanced agent frameworks. Also: while agility and speed are great, that sometimes means the abstractions are minimal and if you want highly customized behavior, you need to write more custom code. For a beginner or for small tasks, that can feel like overhead. Overall if you are comfortable coding, aware of risks, and need flexible, powerful agents Agno delivers a lot. But if you want a plug-and-play solution with minimal maintenance, it might feel a bit involved.
