Botpress is a powerful but easy-to-use platform for building smart AI chatbots and agents. You don’t need to be a coder thanks to its visual drag-and-drop interface you can sketch conversation flows like drawing a flowchart. At the same time, if you are a developer you can dig deeper connect to databases, add custom logic, or plug in any Large-Language Model (LLM) you like. Botpress works across many channels (web, messaging apps, voice), understands user intent using built-in natural-language understanding (NLU), remembers context across steps, and can even pull data from external systems. That makes it great for things like customer support, internal workflows (HR/IT help), knowledge-base Q&A, or any task where you want a chatbot or AI assistant that’s smart, flexible and under your control all this while letting you start for free.

Our Expert's Opinion
[4/5]
I tried Botpress and I like that it gives a lot of control: you can build a flexible chatbot with visual flows or deep-code customization, connect to your data, and deploy across many channels which makes it powerful and adaptable. But it is not always smooth: there is a steep learning curve, especially if you’re not technical or want advanced features setup and integrations can feel complex and confusing. Sometimes documentation feels thin and some standard parts (like analytics or live-chat) are only good with paid plans. Overall it’s a strong tool for developers and teams that need control, but maybe a bit heavy for people wanting quick, simple bots.
