After using Codeception and comparing it with other browser automation and testing frameworks, I found it to be a very capable tool for PHP developers. The biggest strength is that it combines many types of testing into one framework, and the test syntax is clean and easy to understand. Browser and API testing work well, and the framework integrates nicely with Laravel and Symfony. However, beginners may need some time to understand its modules and configuration, and it is mainly useful for PHP projects, making it less flexible than Playwright or Cypress for general browser automation. Overall, it is an excellent choice for PHP testing, but not the best option if you need a language-independent automation tool.
