AI Review
[4/5]
Continue.dev is a powerful open-source AI coding assistant praised for its flexibility, deep IDE integration, and support for any AI model, making it ideal for developers avoiding vendor lock-in. Users appreciate its contextual autocomplete and team features, though some note bugs, setup challenges, and mediocre performance on complex tasks compared to Cursor or Copilot.

Our Expert's Opinion
[3.5/5]
After using Continue.dev for some time and comparing it with other AI coding assistants like Copilot and Cursor, I find it powerful but not perfect. It’s great that it runs inside my IDE, lets me pick my own models, and feels flexible and open-source rather than locked into one company’s system, which I haven’t seen in many other tools. But it can feel less polished and sometimes buggy, with a bit of a learning curve to set up and understand how to make it work best, and the support isn’t always clear late at night. For small edits and quick interactive chat about code, it does well, but for more complex, detailed tasks it can struggle compared to some competitors. In short, it’s very flexible and promising, but you’ll need patience and a bit of technical skill to get the most out of it.
