n8n feels like a powerful and flexible automation platform the visual workflow editor and ability to hook up APIs or custom code make it easy to build both simple and complex automations without being locked into rigid paths. On the plus side, having self-hosting option and “full control over data/infrastructure” gives comfort for projects where privacy or customization matters. But it’s not perfect: if you aren’t technical, the initial setup and maintenance (hosting, updates, troubleshooting) can get complicated it’s not truly “push-button simple”. Also, when workflows become complex or deal with large data / many steps, debugging, version-control and long-term maintenance become painful it’s easy to get tripped up by changes or unexpected failures. Overall, n8n impressed me for power + flexibility + control, but I felt the trade-offs in setup complexity and long-term maintainability make it better suited for teams or projects with some technical strength maybe not for quick, simple automation by non-tech users.
