Our Expert's Opinion
[4/5]
I’m honest: it’s both impressive and a bit frustrating. I like how Vertex lets you build useful AI agents fast and without heavy infrastructure work the built-in templates, connectors, and managed runtime make things simple when you just want something working quickly. Its deep integration with cloud storage, databases and data sources means agents can work with real enterprise data easily. On the downside, once you try to build anything more complex or custom, the learning curve becomes steep, setup and configuration can get complicated, and you end up needing good cloud/engineering skills. Also, when usage grows many calls, data, memory the cost and performance tuning can become a headache. In short: Vertex is great if you want to build a functional AI-powered agent quickly and you’re comfortable with cloud tooling but for heavy custom or large-scale projects, you should be ready for complexity and cost.
